Wire This: What to Use Those Hangers 4

 Maybe you are like me and have an abundance of those wonderful wire hangers just laying around. The are crying "USE ME". But what for you ask your self....
Growing up my mother always had an abundance of these since my dads uniforms always came on them.  She used them for many things including swatting our bottoms with them.
Over the years I have came up with even more uses for them.
Below you will find many of them........

    ~ Plant hangers..... Cut the bottom 1/2 way on 3 hangers. Pull the two ends straight and Twist the top hooks together. Be sure to space the down wires evenly. Create small hooks at each end.

   ~ Use a piece to replace a hook on a pair of overalls. Just bend into the desired shape.

   ~ Cut and bend into key rings.

   ~ Mend a chain link fence.

   ~ Use a piece to lock a chain link fence gate locked. Loop one end and place in the hole of the latch.

   ~ Use to mend a broken toilet chain.

   ~ Use to hold a box fan from the ceiling.

   ~ Straighten and use as plant or tree stakes.

   ~ Make your own metal trellis. Straighten about ten hangers and weave together to form trellis.

   ~ Form in to a large ring and use as a mobile. Hang all sorts of toys or sun items from the ring. Hold in place with hot glue.

   ~ Shape into a toilet paper holder. (We used to use this in the out house)

   ~ Hang several on your cloths like or next to your dryer. Use them to air dry ribbons, belts, scarfs and ties.

   ~ Use several bent into a large ring and create a custom wreath.

   ~ Use to hang wreaths over doors.

   ~ Cut a section to use as a picture frame holder.

   ~ Shape around a can or cup and place other end into the ground for designer can or cup holders for outdoors parties.

   ~ Shape into a U shape and use to anchor yard art and holiday decorations.

   ~ Form into a circle and use as a base for a crown, halo or fairy headband.

   ~ Twist it and turn it and create a shape for paper mache' art.

   ~ Cut or untwist the hook. Add buttons or beads for a preschool counting toy.

   ~  Untwist several wires bend and shape in and around each other. Add blocks, buttons or beads and place ends into a piece of wood. Hot glue or use cement glue to hold in place.

   ~ Use as a roasting stick for hot dogs or marshmallows.

   ~ Bend into a star for decorations or top of Christmas tree.

   ~ Bend into a funky braclet or ring.

   ~  Bend into shape for a baggie or bottle dryer.

   ~ Make into a GIANT bubble wand.

   ~ Bend into letter shapes and attach to barn wood or other reclaimed wood. Attach use staples.

   ~ Bend into small rings and make your own dream catchers.

   ~ Straighten and use as a curtain rod for light weight curtains.

These are just many of the things my mom and I have done with our surplus of wire cloths hangers. Oh we also hang cloths on them too...... lol

Hope you have found something you can use. If not hope I got your creative juices flowing at least.

Until next time.....

Have a Blessed Day

Valentine Gifts EverThirft Way Part 2

So here are some more fun, creative and inexpensive ways to show your Valentine that you care.

~ Print of a romantic or inspiring quote. Place in a Thrift Store frame. You can even paint the frame red and add a pretty ribbon or a few paper hearts. ~

~ Step out in your yard or go for a walk in the park. Find a tree branch or stick. Go to Thrift store and pick up a tall vase or recycle a pretty food bottle. Find some rocks or marbles either at the park, in your yard, at the Thrift Store or the Dollar Store. Place marbles in the jar. These will look pretty and help hold the branch in place. Place branch in the marbles. Now decorate the branch with ribbons, bows, or any other craft items. The next and final step.... Add tiny love notes. ~

~ Make a Love Sign. Take an old piece of wood or metal. Use masking or duct tape to create Letters. Make sure all edges of the letters are pressed down. Grab some spray paint, any color you want or have on hand, and give it a good coating. After a couple of hours check to see if you missed any spots. Give a second coat. After that coat is dry peel off the tape. ~

~ Make a one of a kind book mark out of card stock or use an old creating a card. ~

~ Give heart shaped brownies with almond bark or candy melts drizzled over the tops ~

 ~ Frame a sheet of music. By its self or color a pretty red heart in the middle of it. ~

~ Write an old fashioned love note. ~

~ Want something a little racier..... Create a Special Box..... Place items like candles, matches, a feather, some massage oil (or use coconut or olive oil ), maybe some chocolate or other candy. Use your imagination. ~

~ Heart shaped rice crispies ~

~ A balloon bouquet is easy and cheap to make your own. Most Party Stores or Dollar Stores sell plain colored balloons for about a dollar. Pick your colors and use a candy bar to hold all the balloons down. ~

Want more fun ideas look at what is being offered in the stores and see if you can duplicate something in a much cheaper way.  Or make a trip to your local Thrift Store and pick up anything heart shaped. Sometimes you can even find barely used Valentines gifts that some one else no longer needed.

Hope you find something you can use here at EverThrift to make your Valentine a memorable one.

Until next time......
Thank You and May God Bless You and Your Family

Valentines Gifts the EverThrift way

Even though Valentines Day is still days away I thought we might go over some EverThrift ways of showing your love. The most important gift does not cost you a dime. Simply say "I LOVE YOU" and "THANK YOU"
However if that is all you give your Valentine you might find yourself in the dog house or at least on the couch for a night.
Below you will find lots of great and inexpensive things to show your love. Some need a little time so start now.
~Take a deck of cards and on each card write a reason you love the other person. On back of the cards write. '52 ways I Love You' ~
~ Back a patch of heart shaped cookies ~
~ Make one big heart shape cookie. Frost and decorate with words of love. ~
~ Check the supermarket for marked down plants ~
~ Make a coupon book. Filled with all sorts of coupons. For example: This coupon entiltes the holder to one night of nag free Gaming. or This coupon enititles the holder to have a day free of xxxxx chore. You can make them as simple or as racey as you want. Make them by hand or use your computer.~
~ Leave little love notes everywhere. on the bathroom mirror, in their underwear drawer, in  the fridge, lunch box,car.... You get the point. Just leave lots of them. ~
~ Make candy bar sleeves on your computer. Then place their favorite candy bar inside. ~
~ Write a letter and use candies and candy bars in place of the words. Like.... You are my Sugar Baby. ~
~ Fill a recycled jar or coffee creamer container with candy hearts or other small candy ~
~ Heart shaped cakes are pretty simple to make using a couple of round cake pans. ~
 ~ Cupcakes are easy and simple~
~ Make dinner at home, from scratch and rent a movie ~
~ Cookie pops are fun to make but take some time. Easy alternitive place stick in a double stuff cookie then dip in melted Almond Bark ~
~  Gather some candles or matches then search Thrift stores or your house for something like a globe. Place these items together with a note that says 'You Light My World' ~
~ Make a trip to the dollar store and pick up some fake flowers and ribbon. Next make a trip to your local Thrift Store and pick up a pretty vase. Or better yet recycle and old pickle jar. ~
~ Put together a scrapbook ~
~ Gather some scarp material and sew up some tiny stuffed hearts. You can even use a Sharpie to write a message on each of them ~

Got kids that need Valentines for class parties. When my kids were in grade school we would gather up some paper and make our own. Over the years we used card stock, printer paper, newspaper, old wallpaper and even gift wrapping paper. Decorated with crayons, markers, stickers and any other craft supplies on hand.
One year I was a Room Mother and I made each child a baggie full of homemade play dough. Pink for girls and Red for boys.

Well I had better wrap this up getting late at night.
Until Next Time

Electrifying Savings

One of the biggest ways to start saving is by looking at your Electric bill. Check out the past few months and see how much you are spending. Now lets see if we can get that amount lowered......
We can look at our electric bill online and see day to day usage. Including the previous day. If you have this option make sure to use it. if not we can play this game month to month.

Lets see obviously to save electricity you simply use less. Now everyone know this but how well do you pay attention to it. How often do you actually turn that light off when no one is in a room? Make it a habit to do so!!!
Here are some other ways to save.....

~~ Cut back on how much television you watch~~
~~ Walk through your home and start unplugging you life.~~
                                 ~~Unplug any item with a clock, like your coffee pot, microwave and any clocks you do not use.~~
                                 ~~ Next if it has a light that stays on unplug it. You can always plug items back up to use them then unplug again when you are finished.~~
                                 ~~~ Even go as far as unplugging the DVD player and TV.~~
                                 ~~Don't forget all of those chargers that everyone likes to leave plugged up~~
~~Limit how much you use your electric items.~~
                                   ~~ Hand stir instead of using mixer~~
                                   ~~ Use a lamp with one bulb instead of two~~
                                   ~~ Hang your laundry to dry. Either on an outdoor line or an indoor one~~
                                   ~~ Always wash full loads in washer and dish washer~~
                                  ~~ Towel dry your hair~~
                                  ~~ Basically if you can do it the old fashioned way instead of using electricity then do so~~
                                 ~~ Keep your themosate at 65-68 degrees in winter and 75-77 in summer~~
                                 ~~ Find those leaks. Cover windows with plastic, caulk holes and use curtains and blinds ~~
                                ~~ Enjoy some free Electricity..... Open the curtains on south facing windows in the winter during the day just be sure to close at night.  Use Sunlight instead of electricity for you light during the day~~
Here are some great web sites to check out.....
 You can find out how to make a solar heater. A solar hot water heater. Even a solar cooker.
